Ten Thousand Lies

I have a new project. This project will be from life. Entirely from life. It will be a series of drawings, each called a ‘Lie’, numbered in chronological order. Everything is from life; the reference for each piece will be from life, the name ‘Lie’ is from ‘Li[f]e', and the project’s mark is from ‘L-I-F-E’. Each piece will be its own lie left out in the world. My interpretation of reality. My lie, from life.

You see our lives are built up of lies, little stories we constantly tell ourselves as we walk through this strange experience we call reality. We are all carrying different stories as we march towards the same fate. And so I plan to chronicle a collection of these little lies from life, and then leave them where they lie. That is, where the drawing is done, is where it will stay. Out in the world. As with a lie, once it is told it is no longer yours to do with as you wish. Whomever receives them can do with them as they please.

Some components to keep in mind:

• Each lie will have a reference code: LIE00XX. I will record the date, duration, medium, location of each. And type, but they will all have the same type: (L)

• The title is part of the artwork, but will not be on the piece. Just the code will be on the piece
• I plan to work small. On 3x2 inch paper, or A8, depending on availability of my location
• A photograph will be taken of each as a record
• As above, the drawings will be left where they lay. I will not keep them

I could revise any part of this project as it evolves with iterations. But one thing must remain, this project is to be done entirely from life.
